Correct archery posture for beginners

Stance: Proper stance is key to success. When standing in shooting position, your feet should be perpendicular to the target and shoulder-width apart. Distribute your weight evenly between your feet to maintain balance.

Sideways stance: Sideways stance is the most common stance for archery. Position your body sideways to the target at a 90-degree angle. Keep your non-bow-holding hand (usually your left hand) straight to stabilize your body.

Elbow raise: Raise your bow arm (usually your right hand) parallel to your shoulder. Your elbow should be slightly bent, but not too high or too low.

Eye level: Your eyes should be level with the target, making sure your line of sight is level. If you are right-handed, your right eye should be facing the target, and vice versa.

Draw: Grasp the bow handle with your bow hand and draw the bow to the appropriate draw point. The draw should be smooth and continuous, without any forceful pull.


Aim: Aim the arrow at the target point on the target. A sight is usually used to help with aiming, but you can also practice shooting techniques without a sight.

Release: The action of releasing the arrow should be smooth and without tremors. Hold the arrow with your fingertips and relax your index finger, allowing the arrow to leave the bow naturally.

Maintain your posture: After shooting the arrow, maintain your posture until the arrow hits the target.
