What is a recurve bow？

The recurve bow, also known as the naked bow, is a type of bow that appears different from a regular longbow from the side. A recurve bow without a bowstring is bent outward at the end of the bow limb. One specific definition states that the difference between a recurve bow and other bows is that the bowstring of the recurve bow with installed bowstring contacts its bow limbs. Compared to bows with equal straight limbs, a recurve bow can store more energy, allowing the arrows fired to have higher kinetic energy. Therefore, a recurve bow can be made shorter than a regular bow while maintaining its power. This advantage makes the recurve bow suitable for use in places where longer weapons may cause inconvenience, such as in jungles, forests, or on horseback.
