How to perform a correct archery action?

Release time:2024-10-31 15:42:15Clicks:author:SPG ArcheryMain categories:Bows, Arrows, Archery Accessories

Correct direction of force of the bow arm.

Practice alone, starting with bare hands and rubber band simulation.

Hold the bow arm straight, do not exert force, the fingers of the bow hand exert force backwards as shown in the upper left picture, the same is true for the rubber band exercise, the bow is better than no force (as shown in the right picture).

You will find that through this way of practice, the bow pusher can do a very natural and fast release and bow action without exerting force.

With the help of a coach, you can have close contact with the bow, and you don’t have to worry about the bow falling. Finding a suitable coach is a very important and good way to quickly get you started.

Continue to practice with the help of the coach (use the simplest bow, the lightest bow is the most ideal). The archer only needs to look at his bow arm and feel the direction of force. The bow and arrow are both completed with the help of the coach. Note: The bow guard must be worn.

The archer proceeds to the next step of practice, drawing and releasing the bow by himself, and the coach is behind the archer's bow arm and catches the bow that pops out in time. This step does not require a bow rope, in order to allow the archer to fully experience the feeling of the bow naturally popping out.

Key points: In the exercises in the above two pictures, the target is placed 2-3 meters away. The archer does not need to care about where the arrow is shot or how the bow drawing technique is. You only need to care about the direction of force and relaxation of the bow holding arm. It is not easy to pay attention to all technical links when breaking down the action.

Through repeated practice of the above two steps, until you find the appropriate and correct feeling of force.

When the force is applied correctly, the muscles and the direction of force will cause the bow holding arm to move slightly horizontally backward after releasing the arrow. Of course, not all archers have a perfect backward movement, but in any case, the arm should not move forward or become a sending movement.

Pete from the Netherlands, the world record of 50 meters of compound bow is 358 rings (36 arrows), he has a very good technical action of extending the bow holding arm backward when releasing the arrow.

Continue to let the coach help you, help you draw the bow from behind, all you need to care about is your bow holding arm, and focus on the bow holding arm. The coach needs to provide the archer with a force in the direction of the arrow in the left picture. To help archers better feel the correct movements and force direction

Practice independently, practice until you feel the inner force unfolding and can show it

Practice with more aiming ranges, don't start with a complete target paper, focusing on the target surface will hinder the practice of archery skills. It will be more effective to practice with a target in a transitional way. Until you can make the ideal bow arm technical movements when you are on the full target surface.
