String-Plucking Posture

Release time:2024-11-07 15:21:15Clicks:author:SPG ArcheryMain categories:Bows, Arrows, Archery Accessories

Goal

Correct three-finger hook position
Relax the thumb and pinky
Hand joints are not protruding and slightly extended

Preparation
A good bow extension and release is closely related to the position of the fingers hooking the string. If the hook is too shallow (the bowstring is too close to the hook finger tip), it is easy to over-tension and put pressure on the bowstring to prevent it from slipping out of the hand; if the hook is too deep, it is difficult to release it cleanly and quickly.

How to do it
Bowstring position: Let the bowstring be behind the first knuckle of the middle finger (close to the palm), just behind the first knuckles of the index and ring fingers.

Once the hook position is determined, it is important to evenly distribute the pressure of the string on the index and middle fingers, not the ring finger. The hand shape will naturally deflect slightly at this time. The bowstring will now be located at the first knuckle of the index finger, just behind the knuckle of the middle finger, and may be located in front of or behind the first knuckle of the ring finger depending on the length of each person's ring finger.

During the entire shooting process, consciously relax your thumb and pinky finger.

When the bow is in place, it should be flat from the wrist to the finger joints.

To achieve a naturally relaxed string hand, relax your wrist and forearm as much as possible.
