In ancient times, bows came first and crossbows came later. The lethality of the two weapons is comparable. But why is the crossbow completely banned in my country, while bows (any form of bows) are legal sports equipment? In a word, it is because the threshold for accurate bow shooting is too high. If ordinary people do not undergo years of professional training, a bow is no different from a fire stick, so everyone can play with it boldly.
Why is the threshold for accurate crossbow shooting much lower than that of bow shooting? Because of the following points:
1. The aiming of a crossbow is similar to that of a modern firearm. The target, the crosshairs, and the gap are adjusted to a straight line by the human eye, while the bow and arrow have only two points: the target and the crosshairs. You can understand that the human eye and the crosshairs overlap, which makes aiming more difficult.
2. The relative position of the crosshairs and the gap of a crossbow (or firearm) is fixed, while the relative position of the crosshairs and the human eye of a bow and arrow is guaranteed by the support of the human body.
3. The potential energy of a crossbow is the elastic potential energy stored in the crossbow body in advance, while the elastic potential energy of the bow's launch must be maintained by the support of the human body, which greatly reduces the stability during aiming.
From the above, we can see that the core of archery is to keep the relative position of the main eye and the bow fixed at the moment of release. If this relative position is fixed, then aiming the bow and arrow will be as simple as a crossbow, so all archery training should be carried out around this goal.
This can also explain why some people have very irregular archery postures, but through long-term training, the posture has been fixed, and they can still achieve relatively good results. Of course, this situation is not advocated by us, because bad postures do not conform to the mechanical structure of the human body, and the results will soon reach a bottleneck.
So what kind of posture is in line with the mechanical structure of the human body? Happy lives are similar, while unfortunate lives are different; this sentence is also true for archery. Everyone has a different body structure, and needs to find their own unique and best posture, instead of following the crowd and learning other people's strange postures and wasting time.
