As we all know, recurve bows can be divided into metal and wooden ones. Many metal recurve bows no longer use old metal materials for their handles. Many high-end recurve bows use carbon and ceramic, etc. Some high-end compound bows also use ceramic and carbon. For the sake of distinction, we will temporarily call these non-wood materials metal bows. Hunting bows are generally made of wood. The most familiar Black Widow is a classic wooden hunting recurve bow, while target shooting recurve bows generally use metal handles.
Let's analyze the advantages of these two different materials for comparison. The advantage of wooden handles is uniqueness: there are no two identical trees in the world, and even no two identical pieces of wood on a tree. Each bow is unique and cannot be copied. The advantage of metal handles is uniform quality: metal materials can be very uniform, and their mechanical properties are uniform and constant. Therefore, computer technology can be used for simulation, and various indicators of the product can be carefully weighed during the design stage. Therefore, recurve bows with metal handles are generally used for target shooting recurve bows.
Compared with wooden bow handles, metal bow handles are more modern, lighter, and more fatigue-resistant, while wooden ones are more classical. It also depends on the material. Good rare wood species are not worse than metal ones, but may be better. More valuable.
The value brought by different uses is also different. For the precision recurve bow, considering the installation of arrow rests, aiming, clickers, balance and other auxiliary accessories, many holes need to be opened on the bow handle, so the wooden bow handle seems a bit inadequate, while metal or other artificially synthesized materials can do it, so precision recurve bows generally use metal materials.
Of course, wooden bows also have their own uniqueness, so our customer service often says "there is no best bow, only the most suitable one".
